Ashu is the Author of the soon to be published (Penguin), “Timeless Wisdom, and
Ageless Management”. The book is based on a 3 landmark Indian works on Statecraft,
leadership, strategy and management. All these works date their history to a 1000
years but hold the same relevance for today’s leaders
Ashu is well respected for his expertise in Asian Financial markets and in his depth
of understanding and structuring deals in the Asian context. He is often invited
by global investment banks like Barclays, Citigroup, UBS (apart from numerous Asia
centric Capital Markets, M&A, Real Estate Structured Finance, Investment Banking
conferences)
Ashu is perhaps one of the best known faces in India’s Financial Markets and Personal
Finance. He has leveraged his screen presence, non reverential no nonsense presentation
style, an uncanny ability to communicate the most complex financial markets and
Personal Finance issues in the simplest of terms, to bring millions of Indians,

Ashu was the Personal Finance Editor and Financial Markets anchor at CNBC. He is
responsible for all Personal Finance programs including conceptualization, research,
production and anchoring of the shows including benchmark shows like “Insurance
Intelligence” and “Mutual Fund Investor”, both top ranked personal finance shows.
A show conceptualized and presented by Ashu, “Classroom”, a primer on Financial
Markets has become a benchmark and has made it to the top of the charts for the
most watched Business programs. Its innovative approach to explaining Financial
markets has been considered one of the best examples of “out of the box” thinking
on explaining complex financial issues. Ashu is also CNBC’s market man in Mumbai
and anchors the most widely watched program on financial markets “Bazaar”. As part
of Bazaar’s editorial team, Ashu is in the thick of the action getting the market’s
views and thoughts from the “pit” or the “trenches”. His understanding and analysis
of Financial markets and its inner working is respected and widely followed by promoters,
market players and viewers. Ashu’s tough style of questioning and no nonsense approach
to digging out information for investors have earned him the respect of both individual
and institutional investors
Among his media assignments, Ashu has been CEO and Director on the Board of SABe
TV, and Business & Financial Markets Anchor & Business News Consultant to
Star News . At Star News, Ashu conceptualized a number of Business and Financial
News segments and anchored the much watched and popular “Star Business News”. Ashu
also had overall responsibility for coordinating business and financial news and
stories
Prior to his media stint, Ashu was the CEO at Northbridge Capital Limited (Member,
National Stock Exchange & OTC Exchange of India), an institutional broker and
equities research house. Northbridge Capital Limited was listed for 3 continuous
years in the “Who’s Who in Asian Equities”, a widely followed benchmark used by
institutional investors for selecting quality brokerage houses in Asian countries.
Ashu is widely respected as an authority on Personal Finance, Financial Markets,
and Wealth Management in India and is the author of the “The Penguin Guide to Personal
Finance” and the “The Penguin Guide to Winning on the Stock Market” published by
Penguin Books. Ashu is currently working on another book titled “The Penguin Guide
to Building Wealth” for Penguin Books. Ashu has just negotiated to write another
4 books for Penguin with one for Penguin worldwide
He has also written on Financial Markets and Personal Finance issues for magazines
like Individual Investor and Savvy. He is widely quoted and interviewed in electronic
and print media on Financial Markets, Personal Finance and Wealth Management issues.
Before returning to India in 1996, Ashu was Manager-International Taxes and Special
Projects at Continental Grain Company, the world’s fourth largest private company
and the second largest commodities and commodities options trader (and a member
at the Chicago Board of Trade) headquartered in New York. He has also worked as
a Tax Policy Analyst with the Office of Tax Policy, New York City Department of
Finance in New York.
Ashu is a Certified Public Accountant certified in the State of Maryland, USA. He
holds an M.B.A from Bernard M. Baruch College, City University of New York, New
York. He also holds a B.B.A.(Summa Cum Laude) in Finance & Investments from
Bernard M. Baruch College, City University of New York, New York. His specializations
include Economics and Options Futures. He is the recipient of the “Baruch College
Alumni Scholarship” and has been listed in the “Who’s Who on the Dean’s List”
