BEACH VOLLEYBALL TERMINOLOGY

Ace - A serve that hits the sand without an opponent touching it
Block – Beach volleyball requires creativeness when blocking. “Faking” a block or its direction are commonly used
Cut shot - A shot that drops close to the net and the sideline
Faking - Players show they are heading in one direction and move in another direction so that the spiker send the ball to them
Loop – A shot that is made to look like a soft shot but is sent back deep just to make it inside the baseline so that defenders see the ball going over their head
Roof – Blocking a ball in a roof like block to get the ball to drop at the opponent’s feet
Skyball - A high serve that causes difficulties for the defenders as the sun gets into tieir eyes
